Y.T.
What is your current work?
I work as a supervisor in a department called Global Front of the Network Operations Center (NOC).
As a shift manager for the Japanese and English IT reception desk, I mainly manage incidents for global network circuit (investigating and arranging dispatch of oversea vendors) and provide primary troubleshooting.
In my previous job, I worked at Global hotel, but I dived into this industry because I wanted to get a carrer where I could make use of my English skills and acquire specialized and technical knowledge that I could use in the future, such as IT.
At first, I was often confused by the work style of “remote work,” which was 180 degrees different from my previous service industry.
Even though I had no experience in IT, I have received great support from the instructors and seniors.
I have felt that I have grown so much.
Although the industry is different, when dealing with customers, I was able to utilize my past experience in the service industry, such as “predicting what customers want and listening their needs ” that I gained in my previous job.
What makes my job fulfilling
NOC operations operate 24 hours a day, 365 days.
Every interaction with overseas customers and carriers is new to me, and Japanese common sense of value often doesn’t apply to oversea cusomers. Sometimes I get stuck because coordination between the customer and overseas engineers does not go well, but I feel accomlishment when I receive words of gratitude from the customer when I work with overseas engineers to recover from incident.
Also, since the environment makes it easy to consult within the team, it is also attractive that there is a sense of accomplishment that comes from solving problems as a team.
Many of our members have overseas backgrounds, such as those who studied abroad or returned from abroad, and we can grow together with members who have strong language skills.
What I want to be in the future?
In the future, I would like to become a technology specialist.
The company also provides support for acquiring qualifications, and there is also plenty of support for employees to improve their skills.
You can receive a wide range of support from the company, from purchasing books, online courses and etc, and there is also a culture of sharing testimonials among employees, so you can learn tips for passing exams in advance.
Additionally, when you obtain a qualification, you can receive a congratulatory gift from the company, which increases your motivation. I myself have used this sysem to obtain various qualifications including CCNA. I plan to continue using it in the future as I aim to become a technical specialist.
Even if you have no IT experience, we storongly believe that we have an environment where you can grow if you are actively motivated to learn and like to communicate.
